Oulton BSB: Brands injury rules out Laverty

Buildbase BMW's John Laverty has been ruled out of British Superbike action at Oulton Park this weekend after the crash at Brands Hatch in which he lost the top of his right ring finger has seriously hampered physical grip.

The Irishman clashed with Simon Andrews going into Druids and caught the offending digit between bar and front brake lever, nipping off the top which he has kept in a jar. Circuit medics said he would not be able to ride after failing to squeeze a toothpaste tube.

"It's very sore and frustrating that I can't get out there to ride. Most of the grip strength in you hand is the ring and little fingers but I couldn't grip a tube of toothpaste so they said I had to sit it out this weekend," said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
