KRP Honda's Matt Davies cruised to an effortless debut win in the Sunoco British 125GP race today at Oulton Park's British Superbike round after his three main rivals crashed out on lap two.
As Nigel Percy and Rob Guiver set the pace, Davies, Wayne Ryan and Jason Douglas held a watching brief for a couple of corner until an error by Guiver saw him scythe his way backwards while Davies made his way in the opposite direction.
Percy led on lap two but not for long as Davies, who rode in the European Superstock 600 series last weekend, hit the front with Ryan third, Guiver fourth, Chrissy Rouse in fifth and Tarran Mackenzie sixth.
As the leading group exited Shell on the same lap, Percy slid off his Honda which held up everyone behind him. Mackenzie also crashed at the same place while Rouse lobbed it at Knickerbrook, forcing Guiver across the grass. All the off-track action gave Davies a five-second gap but he was then able to lap five seconds faster than the rest, pulling a 25 second gap.
Ryan beat Guiver to second on the exit of Lodge, using his weight advantage while Douglas finished in fourth. Ian Raybon was fifth, Joe Irving sixth, Bradley Ray seventh, Lee Jackson eighth, Luke Hedger ninth and Jordan Weaving tenth.
