JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison has confirmed his spot in the all important MCE British Superbike Showdown, after finishing in second at Oulton Park in race two.
Ellison has a total of 180 points and is currently fourth in the overall standings and is on the same number of podium credits (thirteen) as fellow showdown confirmee, Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran.
There is one more race to go at the Cheshire tack and Ellison is still gunning for the win, as he was pipped to the post by team-mate, JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam in the opening two races this weekend.
“Really frustrating not to win, we tried a different setting in warm up and we weren’t sure if it was going to work so we went to what we had yesterday. So it was an identical bike from yesterday and it is an identical result too,” said Ellison at the track.
“So we have to try and find something else and I felt I had the grip with the zero (rear tyre) even though we didn’t have the one (SC1). The bike is working really great at the minute and hopefully we can get on the top step and it is nice to give something back to my team.”
