Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill denied team-mate Noriyuki Haga his debut British Superbike win at Oulton Park this afternoon, going past the Japanese rider halfway through an eight-lap sprint race to take maximum points with Josh Brookes in the final podium position.
The race was stopped after Jon Kirkham had an odd front-end crash over Clay Hill necessitating the red flags. He was knocked unconscious but recovered and was taken to the medical centre with concussion.
At the re-start, polesitter Brookes made a charge to Old Hall with Shane Byrne, Haga, Hill and Alastair Seeley giving chase. The Australian lost out to Haga on lap two into Lodge while Hill made his way past Byrne - who looked to be suffering with chatter problems and slowly dropped down the order 11th place.
Hill then went under the Tyco Suzuki man on the brakes into Brittens a lap later as Ian Lowry was forced to coast down pitlane with a broken Padgett's Honda. Hill then went past his team-mate for the win on the way into Island and didn't look back while the Samurai of Slide had enough to keep in front of Brookes for second.
Seeley able to stay ahead of Supersonic BMW's Tommy Bridewell for fourth while Michael Laverty, who started almost dead last in the first part of the race, came through for sixth with veteran Chris Walker in seventh. Michael Rutter, Stuart Easton and James Westmoreland rounded out the top ten while Byrne found himself being chased by Muff for 11th.
