Oulton BSB: Hill takes win hat-trick

Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill rounded out his MCE British Superbike weekend at Oulton Park with a win in race three making it a hat-trick in the Cheshire sunshine and putting some serious daylight between himself and Josh Brookes in the title chase.

After a small mid-race slump, Hill charged away from the chasing trio of Shane Byrne, team-mate Noriyuki Haga and Tyco Suzuki's Brookes to finish more than two seconds ahead of the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki man while Brookes mugged Haga at Lodge Corner on the last lap, denying the Japanese man podium credits but he does move into the Showdown proper now after Ian Lowry and Tommy Bridewell finished behind him.

Brookes survived a huge highside at Brittens, getting fired into the air and landing back on his bike before getting his head back together to re-join in sixth place.

Hill becomes only the second rider to win all three races in a weekend, second only to Ryuichi Kiyonari who did it in 2010 on his way to the title after Hill crashed out so famously at Lodge corner in the first race of Sunday.

Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty challenged early and then seemed to lose his way mid-race before finding it again and re-passing Alex Lowes on the WFR Honda for fifth place and further cementing his fourth place in the Showdown standings. Ian Lowry put his Padgett's Honda in seventh.

Bridewell settled for a points-scoring finish in eighth ahead of James Westmoreland and Graeme Gowland. Chris Walker was 11th, Peter Hickman 12th, Alastair Seeley 13th, Jon Kirkham 14th and Scott Smart 15th.
