PR Kawasaki's Simon Andrews managed to stand on the British Superbike Evo podium on Monday at Oulton Park despite suffering with injured ankles after a big highside on Saturday saw him taken to the medical centre.
The Evesham man was spat off his ZX-10R at Cascades and landed heavily on his feet and then back. He was taken to see trackside medics before being given anti-inflammatories and painkillers.
“After the highside at Cascades, I landed heavily on my feet, spraining both ankles and Oulton Park is a very physical circuit that puts a lot of pressure on your feet. As a consequence, a lot of my movement was restricted, which prevented me from pushing hard," said Andrews.
“I pushed in the first half of the race one and then with nine laps to go I focused on putting in a consistent time, whilst easing the pressure on my ankles. I am happy with third place considering the situation, but come Croft, I will be fighting for that number one Evo spot."
