Oulton BSB: John Laverty taken to hospital after crash

Buildbase BMW's John Laverty has been taken to Chester Hospital with a suspected leg fracture and dislocated shoulder after his finish line crash at Oulton Park this morning.

The Irishman came off his S1000RR with only five minutes of the opening free practice session left to run and, after a trip to the circuit medical centre, was shipped off to hospital for further checks.

17.11pm UPDATE: John's brother Michael has been in touch with bikesportnews.com to say that John has smashed his ankle which will be operated on this evening. He has also broken his tibia and fibula but his dislocated shoulders have now been relocated.

He also has a hole in one leg, a big gash on the other and they may also try to repair the gash this evening. He may also have fluid on his lungs and there is a question mark over his pelvis but doctors need for him to settle before they can draw any conclusions.

1200pm Sat UPDATE: John has two confirmed broken ankles, fractured right knee and a stable fracture of the pelvis plus two broken ribs and other more minor injuries. He has undergone one operation and is in the Countess of Chester Hospital.
