Smith's Triumph's Glen Richards fought off a spirited challenge from team-mate Billy McConnell and Jack Kennedy on the Mar-Train Yamaha to take victory in the second Motorpoint British Supersport race at Oulton Park, reducing the Irishman's title lead to just nine points.
Aussie Richards smashed the lap record with three laps to go in an attempt to shake off fellow Adelaide man McConnell but he was having none of it, lapping only three one-hundredths of a second slower in attempt to make it four wins for himself.
They eventually put a gap on Kennedy who ran out of rear tyre and eventually had to settle for the final podium spot finishing more than three seconds adrift of the men from Down Under. Ben Wilson triumphed in a five-way dice for fourth place, just ahead of Luke Mossey on the third Smiths triple.
Reigning National Superstock 1000 champion Richard Cooper survived a trip across the grass at Hizzy's to finish in sixth with Pauli Pekkanen in seventh. Kevin Coghlan brought his European Superstock form to Britain, taking his Appleyard Yamaha to eighth with Luke Jones and Cup runner Glenn Irwin rounding out the top ten.
