KRP/Racing Steps' Wayne Ryan continues to grin about his debut win in the Sunoco British 125GP championship a couple of weeks ago despite battling with some problems this weekend at the Cheshire circuit of Oulton Park.
Ryan, who debuted into the series last season, has skillfully put all that he's learnt to impressive use. He currently sits fouth in the main championship in which he has had two podiums including a win. This is in addition to his third place position in the cup series of which he is only three points behind the leader.
Talking to www.bikesportnews.com today, he said: “Yes the season is going well. We have had a bit of bad luck but I got a win last weekend. That's been a long time coming. This year is my second year, I am supposed to win the championship really, but yeah my experience and everything has been put together now and has helped. I am still happy with the team."
Ryan's first session saw him down in an unusual 16th place, but he soon jumped up to third before currently sitting seventh going into the final qualifying session later today. With the problems thought to be resolved he was hoping to improve on his position, but unfortunately second qualifying did not go his way and he slipped to a shocking 20th on the grid. However, more than usual he will be a rider to watch come race day.
Ryan is off testing this weekend at Mugello and after what will no doubt be a strong season under his belt, Ryan might be taking part in a couple of Spanish rounds at the end of the season with the aim of racing there next year. Still very much focused on the championship at hand, he is always aiming not just to win races but the championship in which he trails 22 points behind the current leader with six rounds to go.
