Moto Rapido Ducati's Scott Smart is hoping for some dry track time ahead of qualifying for the MCE British Superbike first race tomorrow in order to confirm the last minute setup changes that propelled him to a brace of fourth places in today's wet free practices.
The team have been receiving extra help from Ducati Corse all this week up to and including a new engine map that was sent just an hour before Smart ventured out on track in this morning's first free session. The Panigale has also received an upgraded Termignoni exhaust system which has aided in the search for corner-exit grunt.
"It was nice to be back up at the sharp end for the two sessions today but I would really like some dry track time in order to confirm the settings we used today will work in dry conditions as well as the wet," said Smart, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"We have got a little more out of the exhausts so although the bike hasn't been transformed, we are closer to where we need to be. There is still a lot of work to do though."
