Oulton BSB: Stability issues ‘frustrate’ Westmoreland

Buildbase BMW’s James Westmoreland will start from the sixth row of the grid for today’s first MCE British Superbike race at Oulton Park this afternoon, after stability issues left the rider ‘struggling’ during qualifying.

Westmoreland feels that at the moment he’s not getting the best out of a new race tyre, leaving him with a lot of work to do for the races today, after the rider failed to make it into Q3. Oulton is not a circuit that's a favourite of the rider, but he hopes that the stability issue is sorted this morning.

“It was disappointing for us to be where we are, as we are struggling for stability and it hasn’t been easy, and we are frustrated. We need to make a change and something that I am happy with," said Westmoreland, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“We can work on our race pace, but our biggest down fall is that we don’t get the best out of the new tyre, which makes us look average but during the race we will come out strong, as we always do, but we need to be better for the races.

“Stability is the issue and my size doesn’t work well, and coming somewhere like this is hard. This is where we struggled last year and stability is an area that we need to work on.”
