OULTON BSB: WOODS CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS EXCLUDED

David Wood who took both race wins in the Focused Events KTM RC8 Supercup at Brands Hatch three weeks ago has been excluded from the results following a breach of technical regulations.  This has taken his Championship lead away from him, putting him back to zero points prior to this weekend’s race at Oulton Park.
The Aylesbury rider took the last KTM Superduke Battle Championship title in 2008 before the category was changed to the debuting KTM RC8 Supercup.  Wood’s success looked set to continue as he held off main challenger Kelvin Reilly in both races that took place at the season’s opening round.
Following an internal technical enquiry on May the second the Judicial Clerk of the Course released a bulletin confirming that Woods has been penalised losing a total of 50 points making Reilly the current championship leader on 40 points.
“KTM UK have reported to the Judicial Clerk of the Course that the machine was fitted with a modified (non-homologated) throttle system, contrary to the Focused Events KTM RC8 Supercup Technical Regulations”
“As a consequence the MCRCB/MSVR Judicial Panel has considered the matter and has determined that the machine of David Wood breached the MCRCB Regulations.  Accordingly the following penalty has been imposed in accordance with Article B 4.5.1.2:”
