Scott Redding reflects on his 'mega weekend' at Brands Hatch

Scott Redding walks away from Brands Hatch as the Monster Energy King of Brands after featuring on the podium in all three races.

After a baptism of fire at Knockhill three weeks ago, Scott Redding was back in the British Superbike paddock with Hager PBM Ducati at Brands Hatch.

The 2019 Champion made it clear that he was targeting podium finishes throughout his second weekend back in the series.

Redding exceeded all expectations after claiming a second place on Saturday in Race One, and was a real challenger for Championship leader, Bradley Ray.

However, on Sunday, 'The Comeback Kid' went a step further and pushed Ray all the way, and took victory in Race Two after the Raceway Yamaha rider crashed from the lead.

In Race Three, Redding could not match the Yamaha's of Kyle Ryde and Danny Kent, but managed to beat Ray in a battle for third place to end the weekend with a race win and two further podiums.

"This weekend has been mega," Redding said after the Brands Hatch British Superbike Round.

"Honestly, I came here for that trophy [Monster Energy King of Brands trophy]. I knew it would be a big shot and a big ask, but nothing was impossible, especially after I won this morning [Race Two].

"But coming to this race weekend, I thought if I could get one or two podiums, it would set me up nicely to build up my momentum.

"After having some good track time and some good feel, I was able to fast-track that a bit. Then I was able to battle with Brad [Ray] and take a win, which was mega.

"This afternoon [Race Three], it was trickier conditions, the Ducati does not favour the wet patches over the bumps. That was our weakest area anyway, then we got some wet patches to add to it.

"I was trying to follow the Yamaha's through, but every time I ended up in all sorts of shapes. I backed it off a bit, I tried to use my race knowledge and come back a bit later on.

"When I was coming back, the safety car came out. Kyle [Ryde] actually did something different from what Brad [Ray] did in Race Two, so I thought I would have more tyre temperature.

"But I was struggling again; it was a big ask to try and win Race Three; I was not feeling super comfortable, and I had already had a great weekend.

"I was happy to be back on the podium, super happy to be back in BSB. The fans have been amazing, and everyone has been so welcoming with me coming back.

"Hats off to all of these guys, the level is high, and I think the races would have been great to watch."
