Troubled former MotoGP and British Superbike star Sean Emmett was given a three-month jail term by magistrates after admitting assaulting girlfriend Lana Saoud.
Guildford magistrates heard that Emmett (45) lost his temper over the way Miss Saoud was eating, grabbed her round the neck and slapped her, causing her nose to bleed.
The pair had been out drinking in West Molesey on January 24 and had stopped for fish and chips before returning to the house in which they were staying.
Emmett, who had reportedly drunk eight pints, then took a dislike to the way Miss Saoud, who said she had consumed around half that amount, was eating and attacked her.
Miss Saoud admitted slapping Emmett first but Chair of the bench Jane Bak jailed Emmett for 12 weeks. Emmett walked free from court after having served time on remand and entering a guilty plea at the first opportunity, was deemed to be time served.
