SILVERSTONE BSB: BROGAN TAKES SUPERSTOCK TITLE

Honda's Steve Brogan finally wrapped up the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 title at Silverstone British Superbikes today despite finishing second to Yamaha's Jon Kirkham, and Honda are to release a limited edition Fireblade in recognition of the achievement.
The title may put Scouser Brogan in the frame for one of the available HM Plant Honda seats in Superbikes in 2009, although he isn't expected to enter into talks with team boss Neil Tuxworth about next season until later this week.
"I'm totally stoked to win the championship today it's been a long time coming. This morning I was pretty anxious and there was a lot of pressure on me, but now I'm so relieved," said Brogan.

" The foot wasn't too bad in the race, but it was still difficult to get comfortable on the bike. When the lights went out things went to plan, really. I wanted a good start and to get away with Jon Kirkham, as I figured that if I did we'd break the guys behind, which is what happened.

"I could see I was holding around 3.6 seconds on third and just tried to hold that to the flag. I have to say that this championship shows just how good the standard 2008 Honda CBR1000RR is. I've not been doing anything different this season, but we've had seven wins, three seconds, pole positions and fastest laps. It really is a great motorcycle."
