Relentless Suzuki's Josh Brookes has taken his second British Superbike win of the year at Silverstone this afternoon when race two was red-flagged on the last when as Chris Walker's Primo Kawasaki expired in a spectacular fashion.
Brookes had to come through from seventh after getting punted backwards at the start of the race, going past Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill on lap ten to take first place and he was never headed again. It is also the Bringelly man's first win in the dry as he was first in a wet encounter at Brands Hatch earlier in the year.
The Aussie also jumps to third in the title chase as Michael Laverty slipped backwards with his fourth place but he was ahead of HM Plant Honda's Shane Byrne and his team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari had a shocker, finishing in 13th. Hill managed to stave off Hopkins for second and claw back a few more points on the American.
Jon Kirkham, on the second Samsung Suzuki, and Tyco Honda's Peter Hickman had a race-long scrap for sixth place with the Suzuki man just edging it while Michael Rutter, who is still riding with broken ribs, scored a hard-fought eighth over Tommy Bridewell and the returning Dan Linfoot.
Graeme Gowland was 11th and the first Evo-spec bike to cross the line with Alex Lowes 12th, Kiyo 13th, Gary Mason's 2012-spec ZX-10R in 14th and his MSS Kawasaki team-mate Ian Lowry 15th. Glen Richards wrapped up the Evo title with his second place and Barry Burrell was third.
