Silverstone BSB: Byrne 'devastated' by chatter problems

HM Plant Honda's Shane Byrne has been suffering with big chatter problems all weekend at Silverstone's British Sueprbike round and they continued into qualifying today and saw the two-time champion plunge to 13th on the grid for tomorrow's double-header.

The Kent man only made into the second part of the final timed session and he will have to start from the fifth row while title rivals are at the sharp end. Tommy Hill is at the head or the second row and John Hopkins is second, while Michael Laverty is on pole and Josh Brookes third.

“I am absolutely devastated with how qualifying turned out today for myself and the HM Plant Honda team. It has been a difficult weekend so far and I was really looking forward to this round as I love the track but it hasn’t come together yet," said Byrne.

"The team have been working hard to try and solve the issues we have been having but at the moment we just can’t get to the bottom of the chatter problems. We are going to try something radically different in the morning to try and see if we can improve it and then we hope to do something special in the races tomorrow.”
