Factory Ducati Panigale test rider Matteo Baiocco will join the Moto Rapido Ducati MCE British Superbike squad this weekend after regular Abdulaziz Binladin decided to give his battered body a rest.
Binladin broke some ribs in a crash at Cadwell Park and although he managed to get out on track at Assen, another accident early in the weekend meant he is out of action.
Baiocco has done thousands of miles of development work on the 1199 bike around Mugello and is ideally placed to make a comparison between the way the Moto Rapido bike works and the full, FIM-spec Bologna version.
"The opportunity for Matteo to come over and help us only came up yesterday so we grabbed it with both hands. He has got so much experience with every facet of the bike, he should be able to give us a lot of pointers as to what we could be doing differently," said team boss Steve Moore, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"The factory have also sent us some more development parts to use, so we will be able to assess whether these are useful or not and Matteo can report back to the factory. we hope Abdulaziz is well soon and we expect to see him return at Brands Hatch."
