Series leader Josh Elliott is hoping to keep the ball rolling after his maiden Bennetts British Superbike win today put him in joint control of the championship.

OMG Suzuki’s man of the meeting chalked up his first career BSB victory in this afternoon’s first race after first-place finisher Tarran Mackenzie was hit with a three-second penalty for knocking his team-mate Jason O’Hallloran off on the last lap.

But Elliott stuck with Mackenzie all through both of today’s 30-lap scraps, making his presence known as an early title contender despite his team not holding the factory tagline.

And now, the Northern Irishman is aiming to carry the momentum to Oulton Park in a fortnight and beyond as he and Mackenzie currently lead the series on 45 points apiece.

“In previous seasons I’ve lacked in certain areas and didn’t have it all fully together, but this year I do,” Elliott told Bikesport News. “I’ve got the complete package this year.

“My crew chief Ray Stringer and I both worked really hard in testing and he’s give me a great bike. I’m feeling really comfortable on the bike and we’re just making small improvements, which more suit to my style, and the results show.

“I can’t put it into words, it’s been an unbelievable weekend start to finish. It was mega to be with Tarran and Jason in race one and then race two to be with Tarran again was great. We just have to keep the ball rolling into the season now.”
