Silverstone BSB: Iddon ends FP2 top of the timesheets

Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon was the fastest rider in the second MCE British Superbike free practice session at Silverstone, and a 2'06.617 was good enough to put him P1 on the timing-screens.

The former World Superbike rider out-paced Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Luke Mossey, ePayMe Yamaha's John Hopkins and Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne to take the quickest racer accolade this afternoon.

Initially it was Mossey who was the first rider to reach the 2'07's with seventeen minutes on the clock with a 2'07.650, but then the rain started to fall in sector 2. With Mossey in the pits Byrne was able to take advantage and a 2'07.629 was good enough to go quickest on the twelve minute mark.

With only four minutes remaining Hopkins went P1 with a 2;07.527 rotation, only to be toppled by Iddon going 0.7s faster than the ex MotoGP rider. But when the chequered flag appeared Iddon had already cemented himself at the top of the sheets, with Mossey climbing up the order going 0.147s slower than the Stockport lad.

Hopkins completed the top three, but was unable to reach the 2'07 mark, with Byrne and Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran lapping a 2'7.287 and a 2'07.322 respectively. JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam ended the day seventh quickest just below Jakub Smrz on the sheets, but out-paced Tyco BMW's Michael Laverty.

JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison, Ridersmotorcycles.com BMW's Martin Jessopp, Bennetts Suzuki's Ryuichi Kiyonari and Peter Hickman finished inside the top twelve.
