Samsung Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari has spoken about the shoulder injury he sustained which is preventing him from riding at this weekend's MCE British Superbike meeting at Silverstone, saying it is too painful for him to race.
Kiyo crashed during a motocross outing and even after extensive checks at the medical centre at the track today, he was deemed unfit to race. Although there is no damage to his collarbone or AC joint, muscles in his shoulder are inflamed and very painful. This is a bitter blow for the Japanese rider as he is a title contender, and is being replaced this weekend by Freddy Foray. But Kiyo has vowed to be fit for the final round at Brands Hatch.
“I injured my shoulder in a motocross accident and I am still in a lot of pain. I have just been to the medical centre to have some checks on it but I can’t ride for the rest of the weekend,” said Kiyonari, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit just before returning home.
“I am trying to recover quickly, but there is still some pain, and if that continues into next week I will go to hospital and check again. It would be impossible to ride, because I cant sleep as my shoulder is very painful, but I should be back for the final round at Brands Hatch.”
