MRO Supersport man Billy Mellor will stand in for Steve Brogan on the HM Plant Honda Supersport bike at the Silverstone British Superbike round this weekend.

The youngster from Barnsley has previously raced Minimotos, pocket bikes, 125cc two-strokes and most recently a 600cc Supersport machine in the MRO series.

Despite being told by the team that he is under no pressure to perform this weekend, the youngster will be aiming to impress in his first ride at this level.

“For me, this whole weekend is both exciting and daunting! To be here at national level is big step up for us, and I’m so excited and more than a little bit nervous," said the 18-year-old.

"I just can’t wait to get on with it tomorrow. I’ve ridden on the National circuit here, so not the one used by the British Superbike championship, but I just want to go out and enjoy the experience and not come last!”
