Moto Rapido Ducati's Scott Smart has dedicated his double podium at Knockhill to young dan Matt Westley who unfortunately died during an operation last Monday.
Matt was a massive fan of Smart's and visited him on many occasions. He had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Maidstone rider's achievements and was always happy and smiling when around the pit garages.
"I was deeply saddened to hear that Matt had passed away, I didn't find out until today otherwise we would have celebrated his life on the podium in Scotland. It was always a pleasure to have him in the garage at a race, he seemed to know more about me than I do!" said Smart.
"Mine and the team's sincerest condolences go to Matt's family at this very, very difficult time. He was always a happy and smiling kid, a pleasure to have around."
Smart also dedicated the results to Pete Stevens, an avid biker who had'R1 FAN' as his registration number and to Don Godden, creator of the Godden engines used in grasstrack, longtrack and speedway, who both passed away recently.
