Millsport Ducati’s Jakub Smrz finished this afternoon’s MCE British Superbike free practice sessions third fastest overall, but the Czech Republic rider is adamant that there are improvements that can be made to his bike, especially when it comes to braking and corner entry.
Smrz’s best time of 1’48.708 was good enough to place him on the provisional front row, but he wants to replicate his fast pace tomorrow and to fulfil his aim of a podium finish on Sunday.
“I like this kind of track as it is similar to the ones I used to ride in World Superbikes. Today has gone well, and we have a different bike from the last round as we changed a lot of the settings. We still have some problems when braking and entering corners, but the team are trying to found out how we can improve,” said Smrz, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“The plan is to be in the top three, but I was just thinking of feeling comfortable out on the track and I was feeling like a rookie after such a long break, but the second session was a lot better – so it shows we are improving.”
