Snetterton BSB: Byrne happy with debut circuit double

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne accomplished a new goal today, which was winning his first double MCE British Superbike victory at the Snetterton 300 circuit - leaving him a very happy rider this evening.

The triple champ extended his lead in the overall standings after bagging the maximum 50 points for his team. He did have to fend off challenges from Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes, but a few mistakes by the Aussie meant Byrne was able to complete both races relatively unchallenged.

Byrne was pushing hard but was conscious of tyre wear, but he ‘enjoyed’ the experienced out on the track and is now looking ahead to the next round at Knockhill.

“I enjoyed that! I spoke to my crew chief at the start of the race and we had a race-pace that we wanted to maintain and we did that. I didn’t want to go full pelt and end up wrecking my tyre, but I did want to push on really hard,” said Byrne, speaking at the track.

“Josh made a few passes but he made some tiny mistakes and I was able to sneak straight past him. There are a few things we need to work on, but we are looking forward to Knockhill which has been really good to me, but bad at times too, so we will see what it will bring.”
