Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki man Shane Byrne has topped the final British Superbike free practice session at Snetterton this morning and heads into qualifying as the fastest man around the Norfolk track.
Byrne was the only rider to break the 1'49s barrier with his 1'48.860, which is eight-tenths off his own lap record set last year, but he is being chased hard by Ian Lowry on the Padgett's Honda who topped the session until Byrne's final run.
Supersonic BMW's Tommy Bridewell has found some of the pace he was looking for last night and is less than a tenth slower than Lowry in third place while Alex Lowes leapt up to fourth with his last lap of the session.
Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brooks is in fifth and three quarters of a second off the pace while Graeme Gowland slipped down to sixth after setting the second fastest time at half-distance. Noriyuki Haga is seventh fastest and just ahead of yesterday's pace-setter Michael Laverty.
Reigning BSB Champion Tommy Hill is ninth and 1.3s off the pace while Luca Scassa rounds out the top ten. Jon Kirkham is 11th, Chris Walker 12th, Dan Linfoot 13th, Alastair Seeley 14th and Barry Burrell completes the top 15.
