Snetterton BSB: It’s mission accomplished for Byrne

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne bagged his second MCE British Superbike pole of the year at Snetterton, and did it in emphatic style. The triple champ wanted to break his lap record at the track, and he did just that, going nearly a second quicker – after a 1’47.488 rotation.

The aim was to get on the front row, andwas not really worried about getting the number one spot on the starting grid, but he surpassed all expectations, and is one happy rider in the paddock this afternoon. Byrne tried a range of tyre combinations and found one which worked - which was evident in Q3.

“Qualifying is not a big thing for me, as long I can get on the front row 99 percent of the time then Ii'm happy. In my head I had a lap time that I wanted to achieve, and I surpassed that, and that made my day, and fortunately that was enough to take pole,” said Byrne, at the circuit.

“We tried the soft tyre and harder option too and for the final exit everything worked, so thanks to my team. I am just looking forward to the races tomorrow. The weather has been great and it makes it realty fun to ride the track, so hopefully it will be like that tomorrow.”
