Snetterton BSB: Johnston set for Padgett's ride until season end

Ulsterman Lee Johnston has secured a Pirelli National Superstock 1000 ride with the Padgett's Honda team until the end of this season and has scotched the rumour he has replaced John McGuinness in the team.

Johnston had a successful test with the Batley-based team at Snetterton last week and rolled in to the Norfolk's MCE British Superbike round full of confidence.

"With me running Hondas at the TT, Clive and I ended up chatting over the time there and he thought it would be a good idea to get some seat before the Ulster so he said I could use his Superstock bike, Bruce Anstey's, as it was just sitting there," said Johnston, speaking to bikesportews. com at Snetterton.

"Everyone seems to think I have taken John's but that's not going to happen! We're planning to do the rest of the year on the bike as it doesn't clash with the Ulster and the next road race is Macau after that.

"I have got on well with it, it's a good all-round package. With me not weighing very much, it feels fast but at places like the TT I struggle because I am so short, plus it's only been eight weeks since I broke my leg. I can only now just stand on tip-toe and I have just got back into cycling."
