SNETTERTON BSB: MACKENZIE'S BEST QUALIFYING

MMCG Motorpoint’s Taylor Mackenzie is busier than ever with taking part in the Red Bull Rookies in addition to the Relentless British 125GP championship which continued at Snetterton over the weekend.
The 16 year old didn’t let a broken collar bone from pre-season testing stop him, as a mere 18 days later he was back on a bike.  Even though he has missed two of the five British rounds due to his commitments in the Red Bull championship Mackenzie sits third within the cup championship.  Along with taking a first and second place cup trophies he is 13th overall in the main standings.
Riding as part of the Motorpoint Henderson junior team Mackenzie is flying the same ‘snazzy’, as he puts it, paintjob as British Superbike riders Chris Walker and Graeme Gowland.  The Ashby de la Zouch rider has achieved some of his best results in both championships with him finishing fourth at the third round at Donington.  After missing Oulton and Thruxton he returned to Snetterton setting his best qualifying position of 16th in the British series.
In the Red Bull Rookies Mackenzie finished 19th in his first race of the season before realising he was suffering from steering damper problems, once fixed he obtained his highest race position of 14th in the second race.  After struggling to learn the track at Mugello he still continued to pick up a point to finish 15th in the race.
Talking about his hectic season Mackenzie said: “I am loving the Red Bull and the sun, its good fun. My shoulder did mess up the start of the season a little, but it is ok now, I still have the wire in it.  I was due to have it taken out but they couldn’t fit us in so now it won’t be until August.  It is now only the Sachsenring that clashes with Mallory and I am still in a good position in the British cup championship so we will see what happens."
