Millsport Ducati’s Jakub Smrz has a lot to celebrate after he set the third quickest time during today’s MCE British Superbike qualifying session at Snetterton. Not only that it has been three years since a Ducati was on the front row, and that drought was ended today after the former World Superbike contender clocked a 1’47.994.
His team have changed the bike form the last round at Oulton, and the changes have definitely paid off. But this is a track that Smrz enjoys as it reminds him of the tracks that he used to compete at on the world stage. The aim was to start from the front row – so it’s mission accomplished for the Czech Republic racer.
“All the field in BSB is so fast and it was hard work and we changed a lot on the bike from Oulton and we worked really hard and it paid off,” said Smrz, speaking at the track.
“My team improved the bike so much an we reached the aim of getting into the front row, and I want to improve even more in the race tomorrow after all our hard work today. So that is business done for qualifying and I want to improve my speed on Sunday.”
