Snetterton BSB test: ‘Best day so far’ - O’Halloran

Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran dialled some power out of the 2015 MCE British Superbike Fireblade during testing at Snetterton as he wanted to get some more corner exit smoothness and also carry more mid-corner pace.

O’Halloran ended the two-day session in sixth place on the combined sheets and just over a second slower than Josh Brookes but his gap to Shane Byrne and James Ellison was only half a second.

“Yesterday was a good day for us and today was another step in the right direction. We haven’t changed the bike massively, just small things, but they have enabled me to ride the bike harder,” said O’Halloran, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“We are just trying to carry a bit more corner speed and get some entry grip. The bike is quite aggressive on corner exit so we dialled a little bit of the power down today which helped. We probably need to do a little bit more of what we did today for the race and find a bit more time.

“I’m quite happy with my pace, we did quite a few 1’48.0s so I think I can do that consistently, instead of just a one-off lap. I was a little bit disappointed to be a second off the front but to where Byrne and Ellison are, the pack if you like, I think that’s possible and we can come back here a make a race of it for the podium.

“We want to stand on the box sooner rather than later. It’s not easy as everyone is fast this year and they are all quality guys but we have got to keep working and today was our best day on the bike so far this year.”
