HM Plant Honda's Shane Byrne suffered with awful vibration in the last part of British Superbike qualifying today at Snetterton caused by an rear unbalanced wheel which made it almost impossible to ride fast.
The former WSB man rolled up pitlane in the final session, pointed to the rear wheel and remonstrated with crew chef Chris Pike before going back into the garage to watch as he could only muster a time good enough for the middle of row two.
"We had a great strategy for the third part of qualifying and we were on schedule for a good session but an unbalanced wheel gave Shane serious vibration. We looked at the data and the vibration was very bad," said team boss Havier Beltran, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"We were gutted for Shakey as he had been fastest in the second qualifying session and we were confident he could have challenged for the pole position. We know he has the pace for a podium tomorrow."
