Superstock winner Cooper praises tyres for holding up

Buildbase BMW's Richard Cooper has praised the spec-Metzeler tyres used in the Superstock 1000 series as they held up to the high temperatures and abrasive tarmac at Snetterton over the weekend.

Cooper, who won Sunday's race ahead of the MSS Kawasaki pair of Danny Buchan and Howie Mainwaring, says he only had to use a single rear tyre through the whole of qualifying and still set pole.

“It's been a steady start to the season but I think we've definitely found our feet with the two wins. This weekend at Snetterton has been great, we've been at least half a second quicker than anyone else all through qualifying and then to get the win was fantastic," said Cooper.

"The bike hasn't missed a beat and nor have the tyres. In fact, we only had to use a single rear for qualifying. We didn't need to put a second one on, and it got us to pole - very impressive! I did full race distance on a rear tyre on Friday and by the end it still looked good, even in this incredible heat.”
