Supertwins to join BSB support classes in 2014?

BSB bosses are currently evaluating the possibility of introducing a Supertwins class to the current MCE Insurance-backed series to add an entry-level national championship.

The class has been pioneered on the roads by Ryan Farquhar and has seen no small measure of success at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT, with names like ex-GP star Jeremy McWilliams keen to take on the middleweight V-twins.

"The quality of the machinery used for instance by Ryan Farquar's team and James Hillier at the TT plus the Suzuki derivative prepared by JHS is extremely high. Also we are seeing other manufacturers announcing forthcoming models in sector," said series director Stuart Higgs, speaking to bikesportnews.com this lunchtime.

"MSVR is acutely aware of the popularity of the class both on the roads and in club racing, and we believe that a budget, national championship would add another string to the bow of British Superbikes as well as giving competitors the chance to race in front of big crowds with the possibility of television coverage."

Prospective teams are encouraged to contact MSVR to further progress this initiative.
