Track action at Oulton Park will not resume following an incident in the Quattro Group British Supersport race.
Following an 11-rider incident at the start of the Quattro Group British Supersport race, the remainder of the British Superbike event at Oulton Park has been cancelled.
Limited details are known at this time, and a further announcement will be made by MSVR this evening.
After declaring the event as cancelled, MSVR released their first statement. The statement regarding the incident reads:
"At the start of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park, exiting turn one on the first lap there was a major chain reaction incident involving 11 riders. The race was immediately stopped and medical services attended.
"Due to the extent of the incident and following medical intervention which is ongoing, it will not be possible to continue the event and therefore the remainder of the race event is cancelled.
"MSVR will issue a further statement in due course."
BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs also spoke to TNT Sports when the cancellation was announced:
"It was a severe and catastrophic incident coming off of turn one at the start of the British Supersport race.
"There were 11 riders involved, which naturally invoked an immediate red flag and full medical response given the severity of the incident.
"The medical response to that is technically still ongoing, and as a result of that we [can] confirm that the event is now cancelled and there’ll be no more racing today."
