Thruxton BSB: Experience counts for Rutter

Bathams BMW’s Michael Rutter was never outside the top three times during the second MCE British Superbike practice session at Thruxton this afternoon, and proved that experience is the key for the veteran racer.

The Hampshire circuit is a track that Rutter enjoys, and his excitement clearly came out during the session as he was the first rider to lap inside the 1’16’s and then the 1’15’s. He was topping the timesheets for the majority of the 45 minute outing only to be ousted by Milwaukee Yamaha’s Tommy Bridewell and Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki's Shane Byrne.

The rider means business this weekend, and hopes he can keep up his good form throughout qualifying tomorrow – as a front row start would mean a lot to the road racing legend, and even a bit of rain wont put him off.

“When it rains it dries so fast here, and is only heavy for 30 seconds out on track, but it is a bit awkward, but it is one of those things. It seems to be going well, and I am happy with the set up of the bike,” said Rutter, speaking to bikesportnews.com from his garage.

“I like coming to Thruxton, as I have been here many times before, and it is a fast circuit, and there are no chicanes – which I like. I either want it to be wet or dry, but I would be more than happy if I am in the top three tomorrow, as that would be great – especially if I have the pace for qualifying too.”
