Thruxton BSB: GBmoto considering Ellison substitute rider

GBmoto Kawasaki’s team owner Mark Smith-Halvorsen is considering a replacement rider for the injured James Ellison, with the possibility of having someone in place for the next round at Oulton Park.

Ellison broke his leg at Brands Hatch, and is undergoing an intensive rehabilitation programme on the Isle of Man. But the team owner has admitted to bikesportnews.com that he has had a lot of interest in the vacant ride, but wants a racer who will fit into the team too.

“James is now in the Isle of Man and he has already had five days of hyperbaric chamber sessions, as well as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy and he is doing much better,” said Smith-Halvorsen, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.

"At this stage, whilst we have to see how the next period pans out we are confident that he will be riding again before the Showdown. There is a distinct possibility that we will run another rider at Oulton, but I can’t confirm for sure yes or no, or whom. But we have been lucky as we have had a lot on interest in the ride, but it will have to work for us too.”
