Thruxton BSB: Guiver does the hat-trick with three in a row

SP125 Brookhouse Racing's Rob Guiver literally sailed through the 12-lap race at Thruxton for the Sunoco British 125GP Championship in extremely wet conditions, holding on to his championship lead.

It was Guiver who slightly had the lead into the first corner. Immediately he was under attack from a couple of riders but it was unexpectedly Jordan Weaving of SP125 Jordan racing who hung on to his back wheel.

Visibily they were pulling away from the pack and by the end of lap one these two had swapped positions a couple of times but unfortunately just as they reached the last corner of the first lap Weaving lost the front. Despite his bike coming to stop in the middle of the chicane all riders, especially Andrew Reid of Team Aztec GP who was directly behind, skillyfully avoided any collision.

For several laps the first three riders Guiver, Reid and as expected the usual Kyle Ryde of RS Racing settled into a lonely ride for the rest of the race. Behind them was where the mayhem was really taking place. The race saw Lee Jackson of Team Jackson Racing battle with Tom Carne of RCD/FPW Racing for fifth, wheel to wheel constantly swapping places.

Nigel Percy Racing's Nigel Percy battled with Joe Irving of E3 Motorsport as they both tried to not only fight each other but also get away from a pack of at least five riders being led by Chrissie Rouse of SGR Racing.

After a few laps Wayne Ryan of KRP Racing Steps had recovered from an out of the seat moment to cause trouble at the front and steel a few places to sit in fourth, bringing with him FAB Racing's Bradley Rey. Unusually for a 125cc race it was quite sedate, the major change was with only a couple of laps to go when unfortunatley Ryde crashed out of second place.

The final results was Guiver, Reid, Ryan in the main series, another expected front runner Luke Hedger of BanksRacing still managed to grab some points in 10th place picking up what no doubt will be valuable points towards his championship.

Deserving a mention for the battles of the race also within the top ten starting from fifth was Irving, Carne, Percy, Jackson, Rouse.  In the cup championship, Ryan stepped on the podium to take first place followed by Ray and Irving. In the championship Guiver still leads on 75 points ahead of Hedger with 47 and Ryde on 40.
