Thruxton BSB: Hickman continues to ‘gel’ with his bike

RAF Reserves Honda’s newest rider Peter Hickman has started off his MCE British Superbike campaign at Thruxton in a dominant fashion, and so far has been setting consistently quick lap times, all inside the 1’16’s barrier.

The Louth rider has told bikesportnews.com that he finally feels that he has ‘gelled’ with his bike after a positive last round at Brands Hatch. His team have made minor changes to his Honda, and have kept the set-up of his bike very much the same from the last round. Hickman is feeling more confident, and hopes to gain some valuable points this weekend at a circuit he really enjoys.

“We have not changed the bike much from the last round at Brands Hatch and today is all about getting me up to speed really. The bike is working really well,  and I was happy with the bike at Brands, and here things have just gelled,” said Hickman at the track.

“I am just concentrating on a race set up, and not just lap times. We have a lot of data from today, which is important as it is quite easy to get carried away on lap times, and you could end up going backwards in the race.

“The circuit just flows and it is a really enjoyable - which usually brings up some great racing, so fingers crossed we can put on a good show. I would like it to be dry tomorrow, but if it is wet then it is wet, as everyone else will be in the same position.”
