Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari has now banished any demons that he may have had about the circuit at Thruxton, as he managed to get on the podium, not once – but twice in the MCE British Superbike races today.
In recent times the Hampshire circuit has been a bit of a bogey track for the triple champion, and good results have been hard to come by, but today he found that he had the race pace, and certainly made up for a poor qualifying session yesterday to take two third place finishes.
Kiyonari has retained some confidence, but still insists that he needs to improve, but he bagged some much needed podium credits and is still in Showdown contention – all which makes him a very happy rider this evening.
“My bike is very fast so everything is good, but I still need to be stronger. The end of the race was really good for me, and I enjoyed both races, even though I wanted to win both races, it is still good,” said Kiyo, speaking to bikepsortnews.com.
“The most important thing for me this weekend was that I kept improving and improving, and I was making my way up the field. I also managed to get more podium credits which is good for the championship. The Showdown is also important to me too, and I am still in those spots which is great – so I am happy.”
