Thruxton BSB: Linfoot ‘confident’ after clinching debut front row

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki garage are in positive mood this evening after their rider Dan Linfoot clinched his best qualifying start in the MCE British Superbike championship – third on the starting grid for race one at Thruxton tomorrow.

The  Wetherby rider even prevented Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne from making it on to the front row, meaning it’s his worse qualifying start of the season so far. Linfoot had only a 0.003 second advantage over Byrne, but it was still enough for him to bag a front row start.

The Showdown is the priority for the rider, and he now feels confident that he can challenge for a podium finish and fight it out with the leading racers in the double header on Sunday.

“It feels good and I am happy to be on the front row, and if I can be consistent then that will be great. My aim is still to get in to the Showdown so I need two good results tomorrow,” said Linfoot, at the circuit.

“Here and now the bike appears to be working well around Thruxton, and I just want to thank the team, and they have been working hard on the bike.I had a technical problem [in FP3] which stemmed from a crash during testing and we had a broken generator and the battery wasn’t correct, but we are back on it now.

"The front row means that I am in a position to fight with the front pack and learn a bit from them, and I think it will help my confidence too – especially if I can run with them.”
