Samsung Honda rider Alex Lowes will be on pole for the first time this season for the MCE British Superbike race at Thruxton.
Qualifying was cancelled due to heavy rain and the circuit was deemed unsafe after copious inspections. It was then decided that the grid will be formed by combining all the practice session times, meaning Lowes landed pole position.
The Lincolnshire twin would have liked to have had the opportunity to take part in a qualifying session, but is happy that all his hard work during the practice sessions paid off.
"I would not have wanted to go out in those conditions, as it is too easy to make a mistake and for safety reasons that was the best decision. I would rather had a normal qualifying session to ride the bike a bit more, but it is all good, and practice has gone pretty well. We are down on track time again, but I feel alright and looking forward to the two races tomorrow," said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
"I know I have got pretty good speed in the wet and the dry, so I should be in a good position tomorrow. It is the same sort of goals as Brands Hatch, if I get two podiums I will be happy. I am looking forward to the two races tomorrow, and it should be lots of fun."
