Bathams Honda rider Tommy Bridewell has sustained some soft tissue damage, but luckily for the Devizes lad he has not broken any bones.

The rider was involved in a crash in the second MCE British Superbike race at Thruxton this afternoon, where he collided with PR Kawasaki rider Karl Harris. In the end the race was eventually red flagged because of the incident.

Bridewell was sent to the medical centre with suspected leg injuries, but after some X-rays Bathams Honda Team manager Ian Woollacott confirmed that his rider has a hole in his leg, but should be back in action for the next BSB round at Oulton Park.

“He is ok, he has not broken his leg, and he has had X-rays. The good thing is that the bones are ok, the bad thing is that he has a lot of soft tissue damage," said Woollacott, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“Talking to Tommy what happened was that the bike went in the air and he went under the air fence and the bike landed on him, and it has put a nasty hole in his leg. He is off to hospital now to have some therapy and to get back together again.

“He is already talking about getting to Oulton Park and doing something different, so I don’t think it is going to stop Tommy getting on the bike. He is going to be stiff for a few days no doubt about that, but Tommy Bridewell is a different make of bloke so he will be back, no problems at all.”
