Thruxton BSB: Top spot for Ryde in Motostar qualifying

Reigning British Motostar/125 Champion Kyle Ryde put his Aprilia on to pole position for the second time this year in drying conditions at Thruxton. Ryde was one of just five riders in the top ten to improve on their lap time from this morning’s first qualifying session.

Ryde’s lap time of 1’25.233 is 1.3 seconds than this morning’s quickest time of 1’26.540 set by Bradley Ray. Ray remained in second and is joined on the front row of the grid by Luke Hedger and Jordan Weaving, who both had crashes in Friday’s free practice sessions. Hedger suffered a sprained thumb after his FPW Racing Honda seized on the entry to the Club Chicane. South African Weaving highsided his SP125 Honda through the high-speed Church corner but luckily suffered no serious injuries.

Heading the second row is road racing regular William Dunlop on his KRP Honda ahead of Phillip Wakefield, young Scotsman Ryan Watson and Repli-Cast’s Tom Carne. The third row is headed by Harry Hartley and followed by Tarran Mackenzie after they both improved on their times from this morning in the last seconds of this afternoon’s second qualifying session. Rounding out the second row is Oliver Fitzpatrick and e3 Motorsport’s Joe Irving.
