Bradley Ray made it two out of two in the Monster Energy Motostar Championship after reigning champion Kyle Ryde suffered a technical fault with his Aprilia 125.
South African Jordan Weaving took the holeshot as pole setter Kyle Ryde moved backwards to fourth with Ray third. Ryde quickly moved his way up to second past Luke Hedger and then past Weaving into the lead. Ray followed shortly after but was left with a 1.5 second gap to close down. In just three laps he managed to do so and the lead changed positions on several occasions. The red flag was then brought out after an incident on the run down to the Club chicane. Ryde’s Aprilia then failed to restart in pit lane after a partial seizure and the reigning champion was left in tears.
Weaving once again took the hole shot in from the restart but it wasn’t long before Ray took the lead and broke away opening up a 7 second gap by the chequered flag. It was a four-way battle for second and third involving Hedger, Weaving , Ryan Watson and Malaysian Hafiq Azmi. It was Azmi who held second on the run down to the last corner on the last lap. Hedger sneaked under him on the entry and then Weaving moved around the outside pushing him on to the rumble strip and handing fourth to Appleyard/ Macadam youngster Watson.
Joe Irving took sixth ahead of William Dunlop and Banks Racing’s Joe Francis. Cat Green took her best ever finish in ninth ahead of Tom Carne rounding out the top ten.
