Despite showing podium pace in Race One at Thruxton, Tommy Bridewell was held up in the latter laps and could not challenge at the front.
After missing the final race of the weekend at Brands Hatch, Tommy Bridewell was back on form at Thruxton, but was left frustrated after missing out on the podium.
The 2023 British Superbike Champion had a decent start to the 20-lap race, but found himself getting bumped into by other riders in the early laps.
However, when he began to pick up the pace in the latter laps to try and run with Kyle Ryde, Danny Kent and Max Cook at the front, he found himself getting held up.
The Honda Racing UK rider managed to cross the line in fourth place and was the top Honda, but believes he has podium pace at his home circuit.
"It was just standard Thruxton, to be honest," Bridewell said after Race One at Thruxton.
"It’s tough here, because there are so many factors to think about in your approach: do you push hard from the start or hold back and keep out of the way of the chaos!
"Track position is key. I got away decently, was happy enough in the lead, and just tried to settle into the race. But there was a lot of passing, a lot of movement, a lot of riders bumping into each other, and you just had to settle and regroup.
"I picked my time to get going again and unfortunately I got a bit held up, which allowed the front three to get away, and that’s frustrating because I feel we’ve got podium pace here."
