Tommy Bridewell was riding 'over the limit on every lap' at Thruxton

A promising start to his weekend led to a disappointing Sunday for Tommy Bridewell at his home British Superbike round.

After being declared fit on Friday morning, Tommy Bridewell had a promising start to his weekend at Thruxton as he finished third in the Combined Practice times.

The 2023 British Superbike Champion carried his good form into Saturday as he qualified on the second row of the grid in fifth place, before finishing Race One in fourth place and being frustrated after missing out on a podium.

However, things took a turn for the worse overnight for Bridewell as his Sunday was filled with different fortunes.

The Sprint Race on Sunday saw Bridewell cross the line outside of the top ten in 11th, and he finished his weekend with a tenth-place finish in Race Three.

After an underwhelming end to his home round, he is now targeting further improvements for Cadwell Park in two weeks.

"Coming into this weekend having put the bike back to my 2024 settings felt like a big step forward," Bridewell said after his home British Superbike round.

"What that meant was, after leading the first race yesterday, I felt like we had a podium in us today.

"In the end, I was at the limit and over it on every lap, and no matter what I tried, it was just impossible to go any faster. So we’ll have to rethink it and aim to improve at Cadwell Park."

In the 2025 British Superbike Championship, Bridewell remains the top Honda rider in the series. However, he has dropped back from sixth place to seventh after the three races at Thruxton.
