Despite a difficult start to the 2025 season, Tommy Bridewell is determined for a strong weekend at his home round.

This weekend, the British Superbike Championship heads to Thruxton for the sixth round of the season, which also happens to be the 2023 British Superbike Champion Tommy Bridewell's home round.

Bridewell has struggled at Thruxton in the past, but in 2024 had a 'pleassant surprise' as the Honda worked around his home circuit.

However, this year, the Honda Racing UK rider arrives at Thruxton after a difficult start to the season. Bridewell and Honda have struggled with the new Pirelli rear tyre, and the 36-year-old suffered a massive highside last time out at Brands Hatch.

"I’ve had more X-rays and scans since my crash at Brands Hatch and seen a few consultants but it seems we got away unscathed," Bridewell stated ahead of Round Six.

"I feel lucky in that respect, but also frustrated because I’m struggling to predict what the bike is doing, particularly with wheelspin.

"Thruxton for me last year, my first time on a Honda, was quite a pleasant surprise because I was never on a bike that worked there before. We’ll start off with that 2024 setup, and the flowing nature of the circuit should help us, but the tyre has hurt us everywhere this season for lack of grip, and Thruxton is a very low grip circuit. So we will just have to see where we are.

"Obviously, it’s great to race just 25 minutes from home and have a lot of support. I’ll be pushing hard, just like I do like everywhere, and last year I felt good and had a strong weekend. So we’ll just have to find out where we are in practice on Friday and work from there."

After 14 races across five British Superbike rounds, Bridewell finds himself sixth in the 2025 British Superbike Championship. The 2023 Champion has featured on three podiums throughout the season.
