Motorpoint Yamaha's Tommy Bridewell spent a day on track at Mallory Park yesterday in his second test aboard the YZF-R1 he will campaign for the rest of the British Superbike season and says that less aggression work better with the crossplane crank bike.
The Devizes swearbox first swung a leg over the bike at Cadwell Park last week and, after 20 or so sighting laps of the 50s circuit, got down to the business of finding a good base setup to take back to the Lincolnshire circuit next Friday.
"It took me a little while to get Gerrards dialled because I kept running in too fast but after 20 laps or so, I got it right and we really started to get some good laps in. The bike needs a lot less aggression than the Honda did and you don't have to be pinpoint accurate on every lap either," said the 'strawberry blonde' rider, talking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"It's a fluid bike to ride and the team is great. Rob (McElnea, team manager) spent a lot of time around the track spotting me on various corners and we got to a setting we can start with at Cadwell after removing all the polar opposite options with suspension settings."
