Smith’s Triumph Motorpoint British Supersport contender Graeme Gowland has suffered a big crash at Guadix and broken his right femur.

The likeable northerner was in Spain with team-mate Jake Dixon, plus Billy McConnell, who rides the team’s BMW Superbike, and their TT star David Johnson.

The team Tweeted this evening: “Graeme’s successful test has unfortunately been cut short. He crashed this afternoon and has broken his right femur. He is currently in hospital awaiting an operation which will be either this evening or tomorrow.”
